FINANCE MINISTRY

Our members oversee the financial affairs of the congregation and prepare the annual budget for the approval of the Ad Council. We meet the first Tuesday of the month, at 7:00 PM, in the Trooper’s room. Members of our group are appointed by the Lay Leadership Team; however, adults who have an interest in serving on the Finance Team are welcome to sit in on our meetings.

ENDOWMENT FUND

The Endowment Fund Team provides the services described in Paragraph 2532.5 (The Book of Discipline-2004) as designated by the donor or at the direction of the Charge Conference upon notice to the board of Trustees. The Team will also emphasize the need for adults of all ages to have a will and an estate plan and provide information on the preparation of these to congregation members.

MEMORIAL TEAM

1.   Keep detailed records of donor memorials for each person who has passed away

2.   Send thank-you cards to each donor stating the amount contributed. The card is dated for income tax purposes.

3.   If there are two donors or more each week a typed list of names and addresses is sent to a family member of the deceased so that they can write their thank-you cards. If there is only one donor we will call and give the information to the survivor.

4.   If the total amount of money given for each death is less than $300.00, at the end of the six months, the money is turned into the Members’ Memorial Account. The Committee can select a fitting memorial from some of the combined funds from the Members’ Memorial Account. The stage curtains and drapes for the Fellowship Hall were purchase from this account.

5.   If the money is over $300. 00, the family of the deceased is contacted after a year has elapsed and asked if they have a special way they want the money used. The Team can suggest ways they might want the money used for their loved one. e. g. place the money in the flower fund; give the money to a church group like one of the choirs, or have it deposited in to the Endowment Fund, etc.

6.   A number of years ago Farrel Crawford left $3,000.00 to the church to be used as a flower fund for the hospitalized church members. That money has almost all been used but the Memorial Team periodically transfers money from the members’ Memorial fund to keep it going.

7.   The Team does not need to meet monthly. One of the important responsibilities it to maintain a list of items that can be used as memorials. This helps to make suggestions for use of a loved one’s memorial.
